PhonoKemi are one of the most exciting electronic musical exports that Denmark has to offer. And that means really a lot, if we think that since many years now a very innovative and exellent techno music
scene is growing up in our neighbour country. It is also no wonder that the duo regularly provides Berlin label Highgrade Records with some of our most exciting new releases. The pair has repeatedly
demonstrated that the combination of an experienced producer (Jacob Phono Thiessen) and a first rate DJ (Kim Kemi) is a winning combination that ensures the production of intelligent tracks that always
make more than their share of revolutions on the world' turntables.
This latest EP is no an exception. While the first track "2000 Eyes" hammers out of the speakers with an almost mystical hissing and clanging, "Black Comes The Day"
shifts things back a gear and mixes hypnotic voices with intoxicating beats and elegant loop structures. The result is a groovy track that is animated and optomistic, despite its rather grim title. As with
their previous Highrade release "Decompose", here again PhonoKemi prove to the world that the phrase: "Made In Denmark", is really a seal of the finest quality.

PhonoKemi gehören mit zum spannendesten, was Dänemark derzeit an elektronischen Musikimporten zu bieten hat. Und das will etwas heißen, denn im Nachbarland wächst schon seit Jahren
eine innovative und exzellente Technoszene heran. Kein Wunder also, dass das Berliner Plattenlabel Highgrade dem Duo regelmäßig eine Plattform für neue, aufregende Releases bietet. Dabei
stellen die beiden immer wieder unter Beweis, dass die Kombination aus einem erfahrenen Produzenten (Jacob Phono Thiessen) und einem DJ der ersten Stunde (Kim Kemi) ein Garant für intelligent
produzierte Tracks ist, die für eine Umdrehung mehr auf den Plattentellern sorgt.
Das ist auch bei der neuen EP nicht anders. Während es beim ersten Track "2000 Eyes" mystisch aus den Boxen hämmern, zischen und scheppern darf, fährt
"Black comes the day" einen Gang zurück und mischt hypnotische Vocals mit mitreißenden Beats und eleganten Loops. Das Ergebnis ist ein fast schon groovender Track, der trotz seines
düsteren Namens zu optimistischem Zappeln animiert. Wie schon bei ihrem vorherigen Highgrade-Release "Decompose" stellen PhonoKemi auch mit ihrem neuesten Streich klar:
"Made in Denmark" ist ein Qualitätssiegel!
